The National Memorial to the Few
At the heart of the Memorial is the National Memorial to the few, dedicated to the heroic and selfless deeds of the men who won the Battle of Britain,10 July to 31 October, 1940.
The Memorial was unveiled by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother on 9 July 1993.

Our Blade of Honour Project
“From those who served as ground crew to those whose contributions were less obvious but equally valuable, such as in runway maintenance or repairing telephone lines, we are looking to mark the commitment of the thousands of people who contributed to the success of ‘the Few’ in 1940,” said Trust Chairman Richard Hunting CBE.

Getting Here
The site is on the B2011 at Capel-le-Ferne between Dover and Folkestone. When coming from London, leave the M20 at J13 and follow the signs. The postcode is CT18 7JJ.

There is a good bus service From Folkestone to the site and a bus stop directly outside The Wing. Stagecoach in East Kent‘s The Wave service (bus 102) runs from the centre of Folkestone – Shellons Street Car Park - to the site.

There are regular train services to Folkestone, with taxis available from the station.
​
The Battle of Britain Memorial has ample and easy on-site parking, with disabled spaces close to the entrance. A cash, pay-on-entry parking system is in operation, but card payments can be made in The Wing.
Parking charges help the Trust, a charity which receives no public funding, meet £240,000 annual running costs.
Opening Hours
Entry to the Memorial and The Wing is free, although parking charges apply (£2 for two hours or £5 for all day).
The only paid-for attraction is our must-see interactive Scramble Experience, which appeals to all age groups and is well worth a visit - pricing available here.
To book a group visit, contact the Memorial team via email or phone or just pop in.
The Memorial site itself is open 365 days a year to those on foot (access is via the side gate), with the car park, shop, cafe and Scramble Experience open as per the times shown below.
Our normal opening times are:
1 Mar to end Sep, 10am – 5pm
(last entry to the Experience/cafe 4.30pm)
1 Oct to end Feb, 10am – 4pm
(last entry to the Experience/cafe 3.30pm)

Please note that the site is closed Mondays from 13 Nov to 26 Feb inclusive.

Please note dogs on leads are welcome in the Memorial grounds but only assistance dogs are allowed inside The Wing
