How would you like to hold your next meeting in a modern, well-lit air-conditioned room with a Hurricane parked just outside the venue? Or perhaps you would like a view of the French coast with your mid-morning coffee?

Here at the Battle of Britain Memorial we have great facilities, with everything you need for a board meeting, away day, sales conference or presentation.

When it comes to CSR, supporting such a worthwhile charity as the Battle of Britain Memorial Trust speaks for itself, and the peaceful surroundings of this clifftop site make it an ideal place for ‘blue sky’ thinking.

Alternatively, why not hire The Wing for the evening and invite your corporate guests to experience this unique and inspirational venue? It’s a great place for a reception, a product launch or just a chance to meet and greet clients old and new (and impress them with your choice of venue).

The easily accessible site here at Capel-le-Ferne (at the bottom end of the M20) now includes a modern visitor centre built in the shape of a Spitfire wing and a new library and resource centre in Hunting Lodge.
Both the Geoffrey Page Centre (housed in one half of the Wing) and Hunting Lodge provide airy, modern meeting venues, and our highly competitive hire charges directly support the work of the charity, which receives no public funding.

The Geoffrey Page Centre is suitable for 32 people seated at round tables or 54 cinema style, while Hunting Lodge can accommodate 16 in a boardroom setting or 32 as a classroom.

Audio-visual equipment is available in the Geoffrey Page Centre and similar facilities can be provided in Hunting Lodge, and we have plenty of car parking space. We can provide light refreshments, either in the meeting rooms or from the Cockpit Cafe, which has amazing views across the Channel to France. We can put you in touch with caterers if you need something more substantial.

Make your next business event extra special by booking it at the Battle of Britain Memorial.

Coach Parties

Business9.jpg

The Battle of Britain Memorial Trust offers a warm welcome to pre-booked coach parties, which benefit from:

  • A dedicated parking area

  • Group rates for The Scramble Experience

  • A guided tour of the site (subject to availability and charge)

  • Refreshments and shop

  • A fully accessible site.

The Memorial is an ideal attraction for coach parties since it offers such a wide range of experiences. While younger visitors and those with an interest in the detailed story of the Battle of Britain will enjoy the hands-on attractions and in-depth information on offer in The Scramble Experience, others will be moved by the simplicity of this clifftop tribute to the men who fought in 1940.

With the exception of the Experience, the site is entirely free to visit. Pre-booked coaches are also exempt from the normal parking charge if a group (ten or more visitors) has booked into the Experience.

While the first floor cafe in The Wing offers stunning views across the Channel to the coast of France, the site is seen by many as a place of pilgrimage and a chance for quiet reflection,

Pause while looking out to sea and imagine how it must have felt to watch wave after wave of Luftwaffe bombers heading this way during the conflict that changed history – and then visit the Christopher Foxley-Norris Memorial Wall to see the names of the fewer than 3,000 RAF aircrew who took up the challenge.

A replica Hurricane and Spitfire and busts of Sir Keith Park and Lord Dowding add to the attractions, while a well-stocked souvenir shop and a good range of refreshments on offer in the Cockpit Cafe will complete your visit.

On some days in the summer visitors will be lucky enough to witness a Spitfire, Hurricane – or even both – flying over the Memorial, adding a perfect moment to a great day out. Guided tours can be arranged in advance at a cost of £30 and the whole of the site is fully accessible.

School Parties

DSC_1451a.jpg

The Battle of Britain Memorial offers a remarkable learning experience for young people studying World War 2 in general or the Battle of Britain in particular. Visit us for:

  • Dedicated teaching resources

  • Key Stage 2 and 3 worksheets provided

  • Hands on ‘fun’ and a wealth of information in The Scramble Experience

  • Reduced entry for school parties

  • Coach parking

  • Lunch facilities

  • Accredited by the Council for Learning Outside the Classroom

  • Guided tour (additional charge)

A key aim of the Battle of Britain Memorial Trust is to educate visitors about the bravery and the sacrifice of the Few, and young people are a key focus of that mission.

While previous generations had closer links with the second world war, albeit through parents or grandparents, today’s school children are increasingly unlikely to be able to access first hand knowledge of the conflict.

It was the realisation that the Battle of Britain would soon be a page in history books rather than a living memory that inspired so many of the Few actively to back the campaign to build The Wing, with the interactive Scramble Experience at its heart.

While the audio-visual wizardry of the Experience takes up one wing of the building, the other houses the Geoffrey Page Centre, our purpose-built education area designed with schools in mind.

Schools are invited to use the centre as a base for an educational visit to the site, which has been awarded a Quality Badge from the Council for Learning Outside the Classroom.

Worksheets for Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3 are available, along with a fun worksheet for younger children.

To add context to the learning experience, school parties can be taken on a guided tour of the site, subject to availability and weather permitting. The replica fighters and other attractions on the site  have many a fascinating story to tell, and our knowledgeable staff enjoy the chance to tell them. A discounted charge of £30 applies.

There is a special concessionary rate for visiting The Scramble Experience of £4.00 per person for pre-booked educational visits (with free admission for up to three members of staff/coach drivers).

Please note: pre-booked coaches bringing visitors or school groups to The Scramble Experience benefit from free parking. Coaches that are not pre-booked must pay to park.

ENJOY A "WARM & FRIENDLY ATMOSPHERE" FOR YOUR EVENT

CASE STUDY

When the Kent-based Mission Aviation Fellowship needed somewhere to hold the first of a series of nationwide events, partnership manager Simon Dunsmore chose The Wing at the Battle of Britain Memorial – and he wasn’t disappointed.

Simon told us the venue had been “absolutely perfect” and that it really contributed to making the event a success.

HERE'S SIMON'S STORY

"From the very outset, working with the team at the Battle of Britain Memorial was an absolute pleasure. We were launching a series of nationwide events at aviation-related venues across the UK - the event at Capel-le-Ferne was to be our first.

"As this was our initial event, we were a little unsure about what exactly we were looking for, but from our very first meeting, assistant manager Audrey Gomez was so helpful, clearly laying out the options around rooms, catering, timings and staff.

"We made numerous requests as the plan developed, we asked lots of questions and we had to tweak the arrangements on a number of occasions, but Audrey was very understanding and incredibly helpful, working with us to ensure that the end result was exactly what we wanted. I honestly do not think that she could have been any more accommodating or professional.

"The event was a great success, and we continue to receive positive feedback from our guests, not only on the event itself but on the lovely venue and warm and friendly atmosphere.

"My only regret was that we held the meeting in the winter and so out guests did not have the opportunity to enjoy the beautifully maintained outside areas, including the wall of remembrance, aircraft and the incredibly poignant statue of the airman looking out to sea, the National Memorial to the Few.

"I cannot thank the team enough for all their hard work. This event felt like a real partnership. We received great service and incredible value for money and I’m confident we’ll be booking the venue again."

OTHER OPTIONS

The Mission Aviation Fellowship held its event in the Geoffrey Page Centre at The Wing, one of two venues at the Memorial that are suitable for a range of business meeting, small conferences, product launches or social events.

The other option is our recently refurbished Hunting Lodge building, a unique location with a full-scale replica Hurricane parked outside the window. Both are airy, modern, AV-equipped venues with ‘break out’ areas that include spectacular views across the Channel to France. There is plenty of car parking and hiring one of our venues directly helps the charity, which receives no public funding.
