Classic cars head to the site

Malcolm

Our annual visit from old friends the Ramsgate Old Motor and Motorcycle Club takes place this weekend and is set to turn the Memorial into a petrol heads' paradise yet again.

Around 140 beautiful old cars are expected to line up on the clifftop in front of the National Memorial to the Few, adding an extra free attraction for visitors this coming Sunday, 3 September.

The Bonnets and Wings Classic Car Show has entertained visitors to the show for a number of years and has become a popular event in the Trust's calendar. The visit also supports the charity, with the drivers using the cafe, donating to the cause and often spending money in the shop.

“The Bonnet & Wings Classic Car Show is a great event for us and we are looking forward to their visit this Sunday,” said site manager Jules Gomez. "Not only does the line up of lovely old cars add another attraction on the day but it helps raise money for the charity, something that's very important as we receive no public funding."

As well as the cars, which will be on site from around 11am, visitors will also be able to enjoy live music from the Shepway Hythe U3A Swing Band from 2pm to 4pm.

Organiser Peter Harvey is a generous supporter of the Memorial and hopes the opportunity to see so many splendid vehicles in such a beautiful setting encourages more visitors to the Memorial.

Although there is a small charge for car parking, entry to the site and to the car show is free. Refreshments – and one of the best views in Kent – will be available from the first floor Cockpit Café in The Wing.

Anyone with queries about the show or vehicle entry requirements should email Peter at peterharveysunroofs@tiscali.co.uk
