Remembering Flt Lt William Walker

Malcolm

Updated: Feb 6, 2024

Flt Lt William Walker, whose poetry is featured in a book available from the shop at Capel-le-Ferne or online, is remembered with fondness by the Trustees, staff and volunteers at the Memorial.

Flt Lt Walker, who died in 2012, was a great supporter of the charity and its work to remember 'the Few' and their bravery during the Battle of Britain, and attended many Trust events.

Now he has been remembered afresh by another great friend of the Trust, historian and author Dilip Sarkar MBE, who has just finished book three in his epic series about the Battle which is being published by Pen & Sword in association with the Trust.

Dilip's reminiscences are included in a moving video posted on YouTube which can be accessed here: Remembering Flight Lieutenant William Walker

William's story is also told in Dilip's book Letters from the Few.

The author, already a Fellow of The Royal Historical Society, has also just been elected as a Fellow of the equally prestigious Royal Aeronautical Society. He has the Trust's warmest congratulations on this well-deserved achievement.
