Remembering the Few on 15 Sept

Malcolm

The annual service of commemoration to mark Battle of Britain Day was once again well attended by trustees, volunteers and the people of Capel-le-Ferne on Friday 15 September.

The annual service, which always takes place on the day, rather than on the nearest Sunday, even featured briefly on the BBC South East news.

Led as always by The Rev Brian Williams, with support from site manager Jules Gomez and Trustee Andy Simpson, the service included Last Post and a two-minute silence and was followed by a number of wreaths being laid at the National Memorial to the Few.

One very welcome visitor was Howard Rolfe, Standard Bearer with the Royal Air Forces Association Branch at Coningsby, who travelled to Capel-le-Ferne especially to attend the service.

Just ahead of the service, Major (Rtd) Peter White, Secretary of the Friends of the Buffs made a donation on behalf of the Buffs to Trust Treasurer Sam Pilcher.
