The cafe with possibly the best view in Kent is firing on all cylinders following emergency repair work to the first floor balcony.
The balcony at the Cockpit Cafe, upstairs in The Wing and open to all, has been closed to visitors for the past few weeks so that important maintenance work could be carried out.
Now with the good weather finally here, the balcony is back in action, allowing visitors to take in views of the French coast, on a fine day, with their cuppa. The balcony also offers a bird's eye view of the white propeller blades that form part of the National Memorial to the Few - only really visible from the air when it was unveiled by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother.
The cafe offers a wide range of hot and cold snacks, ice creams, drinks and alcohol and is currently open seven days a week. The Memorial is free to visit, although there is a nominal car parking charge.
There is free wi-fi and the friendly and welcoming staff take card payments as well as cash.
