Try our Christmas spirit

Malcolm

We are getting into the Christmas spirit in a big way by stocking a number of locally sourced tipples in our shop at The Wing that will be just right for the festive season.

The Maidstone Distillery has supplied us with bottles of its delicious George Bishop London Dry Gin, Ranscombe Wild Small Batch Gin and Sharp’s Toffee Liqueur – all great for getting the party started or for just enjoying quietly with friends.

These items are not available online, so this is a great opportunity to combine a visit to the Memorial with a spot of Christmas shopping. Why not treat a friend or loved one to a bottle of something a bit different this year?

The George Bishop London Dry Gin was Voted Kent Spirit of the Year 2021 at the Taste of Kent Awards and is described as a “bold and complex gin [that] aims to celebrate Maidstone’s rich, yet largely forgotten, gin distilling history”.

Maidstone Distillery Trade Sales Manager Richard Cook explained that the Ranscombe Wild Small Batch Gin used botanicals from the nearby Ranscombe Farm Reserve in Cuxton that celebrated “the spontaneity of nature” and Kent’s status as the Garden of England.

“Botanicals such as corn mint, poppy seed, beech leaves and wild marjoram are married with sweet citrus notes and Jasmine flower to create a light and zesty contemporary gin,” he enthused.

Sharp’s Toffee Liqueur has been created to mimic the “rich, decadent, buttery toffee” produced by Maidstone’s famous Sharp’s Kreemy Works sweet factory that was founded by Edward Sharp in the early 1900s and grew to become the largest confectionary factory in the world.

The shop has limited stocks of these fascinating drinks for sale, so find time to come and visit us soon!
