Classic cars will be back at the site once again this coming Sunday (5 Sept), turning visitors’ heads as they line up in front of the National Memorial to the Few.
With last year’s planned visit cancelled because of the Covid-19 pandemic, organiser Peter Harvey and fellow members of Ramsgate Old Motor and Motorcycle Club have been looking forward to showing off their pride and joy at our atmospheric clifftop site more than ever this year.
Visitors have enjoyed the sight and sounds of these lovely old cars for several years now, and the club has followed up past visits with a generous and very welcome donation to the Trust’s funds.
“The Bonnet & Wings Classic Car Show is a great event for us, and we are glad we have been able to welcome the club back this year,” said Site Manager Jules Gomez. “We are expecting 70 to 80 classic cars on site between 11am and 4pm.”
Peter Harvey hopes the opportunity to see these splendid vehicles will help encourage more visitors to the Memorial. “It is so important to remember the aircrew who took part in the Battle of Britain, and we hope that the chance to see these splendid vehicles will attract more people to the site on Sunday,” he commented.
Although there is a small charge for car parking, entry to the site and to the car show is free. Refreshments – and one of the best views in Kent – will be available from the first floor Cockpit Café in The Wing.
